Malaria Eradication Project:

In the past few years' malaria has been on the rise in India . In fact, there is a new deadly strain of Malaria that attacks the cerebellum and in many cases is fatal. There are many Tibetans getting bitten and contracting Malaria. Recently, in the Tibetan and surrounding Indian communities, there have been many fatalities. The worst situation is concentrated in a few of the settlement camps. The population in each of the affected settlements is approximately 2000.

We are part of a committee that is organizing a comprehensive ongoing program which will not only work with education about prevention, but will take drastic measures to eradicate the mosquitoes in the Tibetan settlement camps as well as the poor Indian communities in these remote areas.

As a first step we URGENTLY need funding for thousands of bed nets for every individual in these camps and for wire mesh screening for all buildings: homes, offices, schools, monasteries. We need funding for the planting of thousands of trees and plants that are natural repellents to be put around all the settlements as well as the India communities. We need funding to do non toxic aerial spraying of growth retardants and repellants in the areas of the communities.
